Profile
Name: Cade Maboroshi DOB: June 3, 1965 Height: 6' 3' Weight: 213 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
History: Born in New York City. Mother's parents were Japanese immigrants, came over in the 30's. Father's side came over to the US not long after the Meiji Restoration, for reasons nobody in the family will talk about. Father worked in engineering, mother taught public school. Oldest of five children, has two brothers, two sisters.
Graduated high school in 1983, went to California for college. *I haven't nailed down his colleges yet.* Entered Medical School in 1987, where he met the rest of the "Shrink Squad." *Lita Kino, from my Power Rangers stuff, Maggie McAllister, from my Max Steel stuff, John Baird, guest-starring in Vathara's Urban Legends series, and the deceased Veronica Vane, Ronnie to her friends.* Sometimes referred to as the "Fearsome Five," since, as Lita says, "Med students watch a lot of cartoons." Graduated in 1995. The five students, celebrating passing their psychiatry boards, went up into the California mountains for a weekend away. During that time, they had an encounter with a supernatural entity, Ronnie died, and all four of the survivors came out quite altered. All four developed a strong interest and belief in "The Wide World of Weird," as some call it.
Moved to Las Vegas, became a profiler with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Quit in 2002 due to the beginnings of burnout. Returned to college, concentrating on adolescent and educational psychiatry. In 2006, took a job with the Amity Park school system in Amity Park, Texas. Currently on staff at Casper High as school counselor/psychiatrist.
Personality: Cade is sarcastic, highly intelligent and insightful, and generally so laid-back, he's almost horizontal. He can be gruff, but it takes a lot to truly make him angry. As a police profiler, he's seen a fair cross-section of the worst humanity has to offer, and while it has made him somewhat cynical, for the most part it's fairly good-natured cynicism. He doesn't believe people are basically evil so much as basically stupid, short-sighted, and lazy. There are, however, always exceptions on one side of the line or the other.
Cade genuinely likes and feels at home with kids, especially teenagers, and they usually respond to his no-nonsense attitude, his refusal to talk down to them, and his dry sense of humor. Between his own work with Danny and his exposure to Lita's patients during the late nineties-early 2000's, he's especially used to teenagers forced by circumstances into maturing quickly.
While not an insomniac, Cade's sleep cycle is insanely irregular, and he'll go from days where he sleeps twelve hours at a stretch to days where he doesn't sleep at all. This often results in him being awake at god-awful hours of the night, and in cases like that, he can usually be found getting some work done. The custodians at Casper High have let him in so often, they just gave up and gave him a key. This is especially useful for Danny Phantom, who has a habit of dropping by the counselor's office for late-night chats.
Cade's idea of a good time is generally a quiet gathering of friends, possibly with a few beers involved. Or he'll curl up with a good book-- he's a voracious and omnivorous reader, and has one entire bedroom in his apartment dedicated to storing his books. Plus a few shelves have colonized the rest of the rooms.
He's extremely broad-minded and open to strange and interesting ideas, having survived alien invasions, ghost invasions, visits home to New York while the Ghostbusters are in residence, and late-night philosophical conversations with Gil Grissom.
Cade's also an excellent cook, and has been found in the kitchen with most of the wives and daughters during Thanksgiving gatherings. Two of his siblings and several of his cousins are in interracial marriages, and so the variety of food running around the house during the holidays is quite broad.
He's been practicing kickboxing since college, mainly due to Lita and John's enthusiasm for martial arts. *Aikido and Tae Kwon Do, respectively* He's quite skilled, but he still prefers to talk his way out of trouble if possible.
In terms of appearance, when not at work, he prefers jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts, especially ones with snarky sayings on them. At work, he wears khaki pants and button-down shirts. Very occasionally, for meetings and such, he'll wear a sport coat. Getting into formal wear usually takes threats of major bodily harm.
